Review by, Megha Chougule Oh, what a treat it was! A film felt like cinema after a long time. Every bit, every shot, every scene! And what can I say about performances, damn you women, you stole my heart yet again. I could feel Konkana’s presence in every frame and yet these two actors were so distinguished. I’m a very private person when it comes to intimacy but I loved to “watch” how fantasies and desires unfolded. There are so many things we want to do in our daily lives but they are put under the category of shame by someone and we have to play along. Be it just a dance in the middle of the street or having a great desire to just kiss someone in the rain. We fear so much. Here, in this film, the fear is there but when you give in to your pleasures a new journey starts, a journey of freedom. They [characters] both are helpless in some way. Bramhastra: Part one - Shiva

             Well, the thought that repeatedly crossed my mind while watching the film was, "you can't take Harry Potter out of any fantasy film". From Shiva being the chosen one, his mother dying when he was a baby to Guruji withholding information from him like Dumbledore did. The climax scene had the same essence that "Philosopher's stone" had. Even the villain is similar to Voldemort. He possesses and uses people to get to the stone, whispering in their ears and not having a real body but still being alive because of the powers he possesses. Shiva also had a personal connection with the villain and was getting visions of him. Junoon being a faithful servant and as cruel as Bellatrix. UNSANE

 UNSANE 2018 Unsane is a surreal nightmare of a girl who sees her stalker everywhere. In the opening scene of the film we hear a creepy monologue in the blued dark forest, which we keep thinking about while we see Swayer's journey towards it. A successful businesswoman moves to another city to grab on a great opportunity in her career or at least this is what she wants everyone to think. We discover that the real reason behind it is her constant fear of being stalked by her stalker. She keeps changing her routine, she doesn't make friends, she is lonely. All she wants is to escape him or the feeling of him breathing behind her neck. Finally after seeing her stalker's face in her Tinder date, she seeks help. This meeting with shrink seems like a solution but it really is the start of new problems. After this point her life changes.   The Reader: Story: It is a film about complicated emotions. 2 very different but alike people get connected to each other. It is about sexual desires of both a middle aged woman and teenage boy. We and the boy think that they get connected over the books. The way he reads and the way she listens to it. Different stories, different emotions. He reads to her, she gets emotionally attached to the stories. She laughs, she cries. At a point when he is reading some sexual content, she stops him and tells him that “it is disgusting and you should be ashamed of yourself”, but we see that they are sitting naked in a bathtub. He is a 15 year old boy and she is of her mother’s age. We don’t know what is morally right. We just want to know her more. After some weeks of relationship, the boy is totally involved with her. He can not think about anything else. He has already confessed that he loves her. One day when he asks more, may be just reciprocation but she doesn’t know how to. She leaves...

 Subtle, real, relatable  Chaos within the family. The Hippocrates of the family. Minds stuck between grief and sudden burden of responsibilities.  A woman about whom everybody is thinking but not for her. Not even considering what she might be feeling. How she becomes burden by one change in title she is given, a widow. The irony in people’s behaviour is placed everywhere and it doesn’t even feel odd as we live it everyday. When her own mother was not ready to take her home because she had 2 more daughters to marry off but as he hears the insurance amount the daughter will be getting suddenly she wants the daughter to come with her and be independent. Until that moment the daughter’s education or her being a human didn’t even matter.  We as viewers just be there to witness the chaos happening in Sandhya’s life, we don’t want her to be heroic and we almost know that she will take the right decision.  Sanya Malhotra has caught the Essenes of the character. The Handmaid's Tale A television series Story: I am not generally a fan of visual representation of books, especially the great ones. The handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood is a masterpiece that will be remembered for centuries. She calls the book "speculative fiction" which means it theorizes about possible futures. In one of her interviews, she said that she did not create anything, all of it is happening around us. Thinking about our tragic future is scary enough and knowing that it is actually a present is devastating. She had written this dystopian tragedy in 1985 and it is in bits and pieces, coming true. When you watch this television series, you know what happens when a good book falls in hands of good visual creators. Every aspect of the story is incorporated in a detailed manner. We can see the thoughts they have put into everything. Right from the color and patterns of the "uniforms" to the spectacularly detailed premises.  We see the story throug...

Contagion, a 2011 film

  Contagion, a 2011 film Story: I watched the film amidst the Corona outbreak, when I am sitting inside my house and quite scared for my loved ones. The film hits right from the 1 st frame. The virus is too damn similar to this corona which makes the film scarier. The dedication of doctors, father’s fear, riots because of starvation and panic, feelings of a teenager who is locked up in the house, reporters trying to make money, fake news everything is relatable. The situation and all the things happening around it are realistic and intense that you start feeling the pain of every character.  When Dr, Erin explains the epidemic, we feel that she is so damn right and we get the urge to tell them that please listen to her. When she is trying to find out who else is infected and she finds out the guy is on the bus, “Do not touch anyone, I need you to get out of that bus.
